erstellt am 08. April 2025 um 19:19 Uhr MEZ ![]() Dear Georg, I'm researching your games to document them at MobyGames, could you please provide a couple of insights? 1. Were games like HitBlock, ShortCut and others ever sold/distributed as shareware, or were they freeware from the start? 2. Did you ever publish anything commercial as "Byte Wizard", or was it just a moniker/alias? (or was it an actual, separate publisher not related to you?) Thank you, George a.k.a. MrFlibble Kommentar von Endurion: Hi George, >1. Were games like HitBlock, ShortCut and others ever sold/distributed as shareware, or were they freeware from the start? Always freeware from the start. I dreamed to go the shareware route, but that never worked out. I didn't have a way to spread the games, so I simply put them up for download. Taking money for something IMHO always comes with some responsibility. Writing games as a hobbyist I shied away from that ![]() >2. Did you ever publish anything commercial as "Byte Wizard", or was it just a moniker/alias? (or was it an actual, separate publisher not related to you?) Nothing commercial. It was just my preferred label which I used for a few years. Unfortunately then I was contacted by a web site with the same name, and asked to change it. Oblivious to why I should even have to consider whether that was required or not I turned to GR Games, which I think nobody can take away as it's my initials. Hope that helps ![]() Otherwise you can also contact me via email. |

erstellt am 08. Februar 2025 um 13:01 Uhr MEZ ![]() Hello George, first of all thanks for your excellent C64 Studio! I have a question about the usage of "Solutions" and "Projects": the concept is a bit alien to me and the documentation is a bit lacking in this respect. I'd like to build a little library of macros/subroutines to share between my programs. I suppose I should place my library into a "Project", (e.g. "Macro_Lib.c64"), the actual files in another "Project" (e.g. "My_Prog.c64") and only then I can create my "Solution" (e.g. "Big_Prog.s64") in which I add two "Projects" (i.e. "Macro_Lib.c64" and "My_Prog.c64"). Am I right? But then, how do I reference files belonging to different "Projects" in my source? A simple !source "my_macro.asm" is sufficient? Is there a special syntax? I haven't been able to figure it out! Cheers!!! Kommentar von Endurion: Yeah, I should clarify things a bit more in the docs. The Solution and Project concept mimics Visual Studio. A project is, well, a project. A bunch of files belonging to one compilable program. A solution is a container of one or several projects. Projects inside a solution can reference each other. For example, in the main file of your actual project you can enter the properties dialog (in Solution Explorer), tab "Compile Target". Here you can set one ore more files the main file depends on. If you do that, and you recompile the main file, C64Studio checks, whether the dependency is up to date, and if required, automatically rebuilds it before assembling your main file. You can also auto-include the labels when checking the "symbols" column. For actual !source includes you need to fallback to the proper path though, e.g. !src "../secondproject/libfile.asm" I used that for example with Soulless 2. I had some common code in one project, and one project per stage. The stage referenced the symbols of the common code (per labels), without actually including the common code directly. Useful when the common code stays put, and the stage loader just replaces the stage code. In your case it sounds you want to have sort of a base library for common code. If you want to share that between several projects, you can configure an additional base library path (File->Preferences->Assembler->Library Paths). This lets you configure several folders which are searched when you use !source <lib file> with <,> style brackets. I use that in several examples, where I have a machine specific file with defines/constants for e.g. VIC, SID, etc. which you can include with !source <c64.asm> |

Hast du eine h here DPI-Einstellung in deinem System? |

erstellt am 24. Juni 2024 um 20:43 Uhr MEZ ![]() I just bought a very beloved game compilation CD featuring your game Hitblock off of Ebay. I ve spent close to two decades looking for this game and finally found it. As a kid, I spent HOURS playing Hitblock and it got me through some tough times. I m so glad I finally found it and would like to thank you for the great childhood memories you and your game created. |

erstellt am 18. April 2024 um 18:23 Uhr MEZ ![]() Thanks for the great editor. I would just let you know that your application does not properly scale to 4K screen resolution at 175% magnification that I am using (high DPI scaling) in Windows 10. To make the scaling work, I needed to go to C64Studio.exe Properties/Compability/Change high DPI settings/High DPI scaling override, and check "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by: System" instead of "Application". Kommentar von Endurion: Thanks, I'll look into it. I did make several adjustments for DPI scaling, but usually forget rechecking once I adapt dialogs. |

erstellt am 05. M rz 2024 um 9:59 Uhr MEZ ![]() Hi George, how to pull out the .asm file from .prg file! kind regards Syed Kommentar von Endurion: Use the File Manager, File->New->Media->Disk or Tape, then in File Manager -> Open and open the .prg file. Right click the .bas file and choose Open as and select your BASIC dialect. In the latest WIP version you can open .prg directly via File->Open. |
